During the tenure of chairmanship by Dr. Shiping Hua from March 2006 through 2009, United Societies of China Studies organized the following activities:
- The council met three times in March 2006 in Louisville, Kentucky,June 2008 in Beijing, and March 2009 in Louisville.
- USCS organized two panels as well as a reception in March 2008 in Atlanta at the annual meeting of the Association of Asian Studies. About 30 people attended the reception. Professor Wang Gung-wu from National University of Singapore spoke at the reception which was hosted by the Carter Center.
- USCS organized a China dialogue visit which was participated by the council members of the organization in summer 2008. During the course of five days, the delegation visited nine institutions of higher learning and government departments such as Tsinghua University, Renmin University, and Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. The visit was hosted by Renmin University.
- USCS, in collaboration with the Association of Chinese Professors in Social Sciences (ACPSS) organized an international conference in March 2009 in Louisville, Kentucky: China''s Rise and Its Impact on Asia. The conference was participated by over 100 scholars from all over the world. The event was covered by The Voice of America (VOS) as well as the Hong Kong based television station, Phoenix. Professor Tu Wei-ming from Harvard University was the keynote speaker. Several special issues of academic journals will be published based on the papers delivered at the conference. These journals include: Journal of Comparative Asian Development, Peace and Conflicts Studies, and Hong Kong Journal of Social Science.
